Hanuman Chalisa

Composed by Goswami Tulsidas, in Awadhi language, Hanuman Chalisa, has been one of the favorite chants of folks of all ages across the globe. As is evident by the name, the Chant describes the glory of the Monkey God Hanuman and hence, is most adored by Children.

In this post, I have sung Hanuman Chalisa, in a very simple tune, set in Raaga: Mohana Kalyani. The Raga has the notes of Mohana in the ascent/ArohaNa and Kalyani in the descent/avarOhaNa, hence the name Mohana Kalyani. As is evident, the Raga has the effects of both, Mohana and Kalyani. The Raaga has the immense potential of empowering an individual with Physical and Spiritual Wellness. It promotes Meditation and deep Relaxation.

The lyrics invokes, Lord Hanuman, The God who symbolizes Courage, Valor and Total Surrender. Hence, this Composition  in Mohana Kalyani is  a Wholesome recipe for Total Wellness.

(yug sahasra yOjan par bhaanu: This is supposed to be an approximate distance between the Sun and the earth,  known to ancient Indians much before the age of evolved technology. The calculations go thus: 1 yug = 12000 years.  Sahasra meaning 1000. 1 yOjan is nearly 8-9 miles. Hence yug sahasra yOjan, is calculated as 12000^1000^8=96000000miles, distance at which, Tulsidas describes the Sun, as seen by Hanuman)
